About The Salt & Light Store: A Personalized Christian Gift Shop

Most people come to us when something important is about to happen. It could be a baptism for a godchild this Saturday, or hard news for a friend. Perhaps someone’s mother is celebrating her seventieth birthday, or a family is in the process of saying goodbye to someone they loved. We are here for those moments. 

The Salt & Light Store is a Christian gift shop that offers handcrafted items made to order. From necklaces, rings and bracelets to printed mugs, prayer blankets, ornaments and acrylic pieces, we put your chosen name, date, verse or word on each one.

Why "Salt & Light"

In Matthew 5, Jesus doesn't tell His followers to go looking for salt or light. He tells them they already are:

"Ye are the salt of the earth… Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." (Matthew 5:13–14, KJV)

We named the store in honor of the people this verse describes.

Salt is what keeps the good from spoiling, and light is meant to be seen. In much the same way, our customers are the ones who show up for others. The godparent putting in an evening to pick a verse for a baby who can’t yet read. The friend who sends something a month after the funeral when the rest have gone quiet. The grandmother wanting her grandchild to have a verse to carry into adulthood. Or the volunteer at church making sure no one on the team is left out by getting thirty names down.

None of them would call themselves salt or light, but that's who the passage is about: ordinary people keeping faith, and keeping each other. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, KJV)

A gift is one of those good works. It isn't the light itself; you are. Our part is small: making sure the name is spelled right, the verse is the one you chose, and it arrives before the day it's meant for.

We don’t pull anything off a shelf. Every item is made by hand once we receive your order. Our jewelry is polished stainless steel, available with an 18K gold finish, and is meant for daily wear, not to be put away in a drawer.
